are many steps involved in creating a hand made rug. |

| Mr. Zhou is a rug designer with fifteen years of experience. First he draws each design freehand. |
| Ms. Yan then transfers the design to a knot-for-knot graph or "cartoon" |

| Mr. Meng takes the finished design and inputs the data on his computer. Each knot is color-coded so we can try other colors and even calculate how much wool to dye that color. |
